Born Again by the Spirit
“Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.”
John 3:5-9
Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus reveals a deep spiritual truth: entering the Kingdom of God requires a new birth that comes from God. Nicodemus was a religious leader who knew the Scriptures, yet Jesus showed him that knowledge alone is not enough. A person must be transformed from within by the work of the Holy Spirit.
Being born again means leaving behind the old life and allowing God’s Spirit to renew our hearts, thoughts, and actions. Just as we cannot control or see the wind but can recognize its movement, the Spirit of God works in ways we may not always understand, but His presence changes us.
Jesus invites us to depend not only on human strength, traditions, or achievements, but on the power of the Holy Spirit. A renewed life begins when we surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to lead us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, renew my heart and fill me with Your Spirit. Help me to live a life that reflects the transformation You bring. Teach me to trust Your work in me, even when I do not fully understand Your ways. Amen.
